School Board Information
School Board meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Meetings are at 6:30 in the school library.
Dear Prospective School Board Candidate,
Hundreds of school board positions around the state will be up for election this year. With the candidate filing period coming May 13-17, we want to make you aware of resources offered by WSSDA to inform school board candidates about the duties and responsibilities of serving as an elected school director.
WSSDA is offering a series of free workshops for school board candidates in June. The attached flyer shows the dates and locations, and includes some basic information for candidates. Please encourage your district’s candidates to register online for a workshop, so they will be off to a strong start, if elected.
Also, WSSDA’s website includes a page For School Board Candidateswith links to numerous resources, including:
· A Guide for Candidates – Click-through Web pages that cover the election process, the role of the school director, and tips for effective school board service.
· The WSSDA manual, Serving on Your Local School Board – A Foundation for Success
· A PowerPoint presentation that accompanies the manual.
· A videotaped candidate workshop from 2011.
If you would like materials to distribute to potential school board candidates, you can download and/or print any of the above items on an as-needed basis.

Serving on Your Local School Board Flyer
In November, McCleary School District voters approved a ballot measure to create three new director districts; Director Districts 1, 2, and 3. Each of these director districts will be filled by a current McCleary School Board member.
The November ballot measure also provided for two At-large directors who could live within the boundaries of any one of the three districts and would represent the patrons of the entire district. This allows for a full five member board when there might not be a candidate from a given director district to fill a vacant board seat.
